‘Did you know that the trees in Bedgebury Forest can talk to each other?
Well, actually, all trees can talk to each other.’
In 2012, an anonymous 4chan post sparked a scavenger hunt through old manuscripts, out to locations all over the globe and into the uncharted areas of the dark net.
In 2019, the hunt continues. In the basement of a church, a group of Cicada followers meet every Friday to finally find the truth behind the enigmatic organisation.
This intrinsically human story follows the search for purpose, community and the value of privacy in the 21st century.
CICADA 3301 was devised by Fishbowl Theatre and performed at Underbelly, Edinburgh Festival 2019.
